Metamorphoses-Fire from cycle Habitat, 2002, 70x210 in.

The concept behind the seven part Metamorphoses-Fire began when Anna Socha VanMatre was absorbed
in the music of Krzysztof Penderecki and was preparing an exhibition in conjunction with one of his concerts.
Fascinated by his Violin Concerto #2 (Metamorphoses), she chose this composition as inspiration for her own
Metamorphoses-Water, 1999-2001 and later Metamorphoses-Fire, 2003. The title refers to the presence
of cyclical elements and procedures. The seven components are in sequential order, but with interchangeable starting
points like the days of the week. Taken as a whole, they form a single movement with dramatic contrasts and constant changes.
